State Penn, Rutgers Horseplay

Well, we're back to the noon kick-off for our home finale vs. Penn State.

The Hobo clan's going to be light (likely just Bill and Shane; no Kaitlyn) and lacking in energy both for the game itself, and for running a tailgate.

If the group wants to tailgate, I'm happy to bring all of the stuff but someone else will have to run the show as I've got a really chaotic week and am using my normal Friday-night prep to attend our hoops tilt vs. St. John's.

The Saturday forecast is mid-40s and sunny, so if the group wants to meet at our usual spot please someone lead the charge. Otherwise, if we're looking at a pregame diner meet-up or other, same deal.

If folks wanna congregate in Tinton Falls, I can facilitate that too. Very open to ideas.

  1. If the consensus is to tailgate, we could make a big batch of sloppy joes. That would just leave drinks, snacks and side dishes for the rest of the gang to contribute.

  2. I must admit my desire to go to this game is very minimal. Other than another opportunity to have fun with our crew, the idea of freezing (high of 49 on Sat) during tailgate & what will be a miserable game is not appealing. I personally may skip it. I would be game for meeting up somewhere and watching at a sports bar?? Sell our group's tickets to PU fans for over face value...will be a moral victory of sorts.

  3. Well since I missed last week's game I was hoping to enjoy one more tailgate and the weather doesn't look too bad especially since it's a noon start.

That said, I'd be fine with sloppy joes and I'd bring side salads plus the usual beverages, tailgater and sharonhead.

    8am at Wal-Mart?

It will be me, my neighbor Glenn and his son Ryan -- not the one who just got married. That'd be weird......

  4. I'm in for tailgating.

Suck it up and come Chris. Last time see everyone this year. I have 3/4 a case of Yeungling Premium to use up.

  5. If it helps to sway Chris, we too are more interested in the tailgate than the game and, we need to leave early so Eric can make a poker tournament, so we’ll likely be second quarter Burks

  6. We will need a head count by tomorrow so those of us making food can hit the stores (preferably tomorrow nite) and cook on Friday. 8:45 meet up sounds good

  7. I'm in! I can't miss our last gathering of the year. A halftime walkout from me is very likely though!

  9. Bill, just want to be sure, you’ll bring your grill, right? The sloppy joes will just need to be heated up a bit.

  12. FYI - I picked up 3 salads; macaroni, antipasta, and carrot & raisin. And my neighbor Glenn is bringing a dessert.
