B-REP Nation Preps for RU vs. Va. Tech Fighting Gobblers

After getting very lucky and avoiding inclement weather at Saturday's tailgate and workmanlike 36-7 win vs. Temple, we re-rally for this week's tilt vs. Virginia Tech.

Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. and let's get the chat going on meeting times and what people are bringing.

I've got to split for a meeting, but will update with a more thorough recap either tonight or tomorrow, highlighting attendees and the strong menu, including Dana's pretzel bullshit. The good doctor's bourbon did make a fine combination with the Philly-based butterscotch crimpets provided by Erin's dad Andy.

Use comments below for rollcall and headcount. I bought 7 lbs. of turkey breast to smoke, and I sense people were on board with some gobbler. Maybe we can go with southern BBQ fare as sides, or Virginia ham if folks are insistent on the state name. Either way, would be great if we could just set up as sterno and warmers but I'm cool bringing the grill if needed.

Cheers!

  1. Bill and Logan (Kaitlyn) for sure, with Kathy TBD. As noted, I'll bring the smoked turkey. Can also whip up homemade baked beans if people are so inclined. Will have spare ticket if Kathy bails.

  3. I have 8 total - Pete, Sharon, Bob & Mari Okner using my tickets. Glenn & Donna Pearson, Brian (their son-in-law and PSU fan who attended last year's game) and almost 5yr son/grandson Jameson using 4 tickets I purchased in row 40.

I'll bring rice which I'll cook that morning so hopefully won't require reheating. Plus all the usual accoutrements including TONS of plates, and MAYBE some Heady Topper if the Okners can procure some while they're in Vermont.

Great weather + 3:30 start + interesting opponent may lead to black lot filling early, so we'll plan to arrive by 11:30 and park in our traditional area at the end of the lot NOT under solar panels.

  6. Pretty sure Anna and I are coming again (since we cracked the code it's one way to get the kid to come see us.. lol) , she's working sorting out tix, I may do a tray of homemade baked mac and cheese, I could bring some turkey dogs and rolls as well if a grill will be running anyways?

  7. Bill, just re-read your initial post and saw that you suggested bringing sternos/trays to potentially avoid grilling. I'm fine either way but will bring warm rice in a half tray so it can just be dropped into a chafing dish if available. And homemade baked beans sound awesome!

  8. Hi--Eric and I will be there at 11:30. When I hear turkey I think stuffing, so we'll bring a tray of stuffing and I'll also make a tray of cornbread casserole. I'll try to bring both warm, but they may require a reheat. Looks like we may need drinks and desserts if someone else is looking for something to bring.

  9. Coming together nicely and I'll bring the grill, no problem; also have sterno trays, holders, etc. for people if they just need stuff heated...so we have about 7 lbs. of turkey breast, tray of baked beans, Pete's rice, Burk's stuffing and cornbread caserole, Anna's mac and cheese + dogs/rolls, John's deviled eggs. At this point that sounds like a lot of substance but if somone wants to bring a "food staple" maybe ribs/pulled BBQ? Can't think of anything else beyond that really beside desserts and drinks. I'd say BYO on alcohol; seems like we sorta do that already. Great response, gang, despite that "Dana working" bullishit.

  13. From Jen Hedges Bemben: Hi Larry! Thank you for inviting us! It won't let me sign in to comment on the blog so you can you please let the group know Nancy will bring brownies and I will bring fruit. We will also bring drinks. Do you need soda and water(yes) or just alcoholic drinks (no)? We probably will get there between 1 and 1:30. Looking forward to it!
