Rutgers vs Howard tailgate - An Offer You Can't Refuse

Members of BREPNATION.com:
You owe your tailgating leader (aka the "BRESfather") a service, as has started a new job this very day, and has limited time to organize this week's tailgate.  I have no doubt that you will repay him. One day, we knew he would call upon you to do a tailgating organizational service for him. That day has now come.  This weekend, as he will be at our tailgate, I ask for your help. Be there to greet him.
Well, my friends, are you ready to do him this service?  I want you to use all your powers, and all your skills, to help prepare an excellent first tailgate, or prepare to face the consequences.
BREP

We need input as to what to do this week - a breakfast tailgate, or a simple burger and dogs tailgate?
I pledge to bring a case of Yuengling.  What do you pledge to your BRESfather?

  1. It's supposed to be 90 degrees and sunny on Saturday so unless someone really wants to cook, I'd vote for a 'cold' breakfast of donuts, bagels, etc. and I'll bring plenty of cold drinks including milk and OJ.

  2. I like the idea of a breakfast tailgate. Donuts & bagels (maybe some Muellers crumb cake...HINT HINT to Dave...) But it is not breakfast without eggs and pork roll as an option for your bagel. I am happy to cook on the grill and give our Godfather a break and bring eggs, pork roll & cheese as bagel toppers.

  3. I cannot argue with a man who chooses to operate a grill under such blazing conditions. Can others step up to provide the bagels/rolls, plus the donuts & crumb cakes?

  4. And we should lock-in a time to meet at WalMart. First game against a (hopefully!) beatable opponent, good weather, and potentially limited parking due to construction in the black lot, means we should allow plenty of time. I recommend no later than 9:30am. Other opinions?

    1. I can bring donuts and other pastries. Also have extra utensils (forks, spoons, knives). Given the concern with the shortage of parking spaces, maybe we should meet earlier, like 8.45?

  5. 8:45am might be best because we also have to allow time for ticket and parking pass distribution -- assuming BRESfather isn't too exhausted from his new job to show up.

  6. I appreciate BREP carrying the gauntlet here as, yes, I'm acclimating to my new job at Bloomberg and no longer at the home office. I'll still have my game face on for cooking, though, and have a 50 lb. bag of pancake mix that Kathy got at Costco, so I'll make pancakes so we can make McGriddles with Chris' eggs and pork roll. In all of this I'm sure Basil will add sausage patties to round out our breakfast repertoire.

Aside from, ahem, crumb cake, it seems we need a couple of cases of icy H20 and Miller Lite, as well as condiments that we can use for the season; so if you don't want to cook/provide food, condiments would help (ketchup, Gulden's and, for Saturday, maple syrup).

I'm on board with Andrea's 8:45 a.m. idea, and w/o Kathy in the mix this week can get there as early at 6 a.m. Just kidding...8:45 it it!

    1. And I'll bring the tailgate grill (with a new griddle top that I used on my camping trip the previous week where it took 30 seconds to make 12 pancakes...works like charm), cornhole, canopy (others, bring in case it's sunny and hot) and table. P.S. We have 6 parking passes in black, so I don't fear being short for our group.

    2. P.P.S. I type this while wearing my King of Sandy Hook "bELieve" t-shirt, way too big for Shane but perfect size for me. Oh, someone please add paper products (plates, paper towels, etc.) for 7 games.

  7. like the suggested 8:45 AM start.
Dave - Can you bring the ketchup and mustard left over from our epic Bruce show tailgate?
I may also need a pair of seats for the game if anyone is looking to move them.

  11. Basil says ... I don't do the breakfast sausage thing (that's the Burk family addiction .. and that's not mine ... pork roll RULES! =).

What's the head count for this thing? I have 3 extra people (2 are kids)
Are people staying or planing a post-game tailgate?
How many eggs/pork roll/rolls/cheese are people bringing?

We will bring 2ND GRILL, GRILL SUPPLIES, TABLE and old BOX OF CRAP to start.

  13. I have 2; myself & Evan. I will bring 2 dozen eggs, a large roll of pork roll and 1-2 lbs of cheese. I also have a box of crap from last year; cutlery, napkins, plates, plastic cups...AND plastic shot glasses...nice! I also think there is some condiments as well. I will also bring a table and my van for extra storage if needed.

  14. Has anyone actually volunteered to bring rolls and/or bagels? Otherwise we'll be eating the pork roll, eggs and cheese with our hands (or on plates).

  15. I can pick up rolls. Remember, too, all that tastes better on pancakes anyway ;)
