Time To Get Ready for the 2024 season!!!!

Finally, the moment has arrived: Welcome to the Rutgers Football Season 2024!

As many of us have have waited all summer and had to deal with a lot of gymnastics (with more to come), by the power invested in me by BREP Nation, Rutgers University,  Elvis Presley Enterprises, and Yeungling Breweries, Inc I formally declare the 2024 Rutgers football tailgating season open! I call upon our season ticket group (andthe youth of the world) to descend upon the black lot for 7 weekends this fall.

All Heads to be out in full force on the 29th!!!

Hard to believe these kids can drink legally now at tailgates

As we are gearing up for out first tailgate Thursday August 29 (only 11 days away) at 6 PM I will start the ball rolling on head count to say I will be attending along with our new season ticket holder Al Perry and his wife Joanne (with using using Dr. Dana's single since he's out that night). I am also passing my two extra free "giveaway" tickets along to A&E for their use.   Please respond in the comments to indicate how many people in your group are going, as well as your preference for what we should do for this tailgate for food.  Also shout out if you have any extra tickets available.  Pete and I have already discussed getting there around 2:30 to 3 to meet in the black lot as well.

  1. Thanks for getting the ball rolling, Larry!

I can't participate in the tailgate so if someone wants to grab my grill please let's make arrangements to pick up.

I'll shoot up to Shi* Stadium after wrapping up work around 515-530p and meet you in the stadium.

I, too, have the free tickets if anyone needs.

  2. Bill, I should have the grill covered with my own clone of the one you have if we need one. Not sure if Erin is tagging along with Anna and me since she works until ~4:30ish at the Twin Lights now, we've got tix and parking covered with our own season tix this season.
Will keep an eye out on food discussion before then, I know Anna has been ready for the new season for weeks now.

  4. I'll be getting there between 2:30-3pm. Bringing beer and probably some baked goods. I'll be driving up that morning.

  5. We'll be there by 3pm. It will be me, Sharon, Glenn and Donna (and maybe Larry if he needs a ride). Glenn gave his parking pass and free tix to his friend Ken Baucom who will arrive separately but will join the tailgate. We're totally fine with a 'bring your own sub/sandwich' theme but if someone wants to cook something on Andy's grill we wouldn't object. In either case we can bring some side dishes. Will someone bring corn hole?

  6. Probably just Jen & I, but David might come along before he heads off to Ramapo. Larry was talking about grilling up hot dogs yesterday when we met up for BRUCE. That would work for us. What kind of headcount are we looking at??

  8. Just an FYI to everyone, check to make sure you can download your tickets to your phone. They've changed the ticket application requirements and if you have an older phone it may not work.

  9. Trying to put together a head count and food as of 8/25;

    (4) Andy, Anna, Erin & Logan + grill + Bills cornhole + Anna’s Greek Salad
    (5) + 3? BREP, AL, Joanne (using Dana’s ticket), Steve & Aaron (Tall guy from Wales returns!) on BREPs XTRAs + case of Yeungling (+ some burgers and dogs?) – May have 3 more for BREPs cousin & 2 kids using Bills 2 XTRA and one more from someone else
    (5) Pete, Sharon, Glen, Donna, Ken B + Case of Miller Light, Tailgater, and SharonHead
    (2) + 2? Dave, Jen and maybe the boys on Dave’s 2 XTRAs + Soda, water, and chips, Toms beer & “baked goods” – does that mean rolls – See below for what is needed
    (8) Eric, Andrea, Eric’s brother, Dave, and son (using his one XTRA), friends Amy and Glen (A&E 2 XTRAs) and returning as a special guest star John Lyon & Kim (using Pete’s 2 extra as routed through BREP)
Attending but not tailgating: Bill, (Kathy a maybe), JC
    Not attending: Dana

Need some people to commit to bringing some burgers, dogs, rolls, cheese slices, condiments, plates, papers towels; Figure we have prepare to feed about 25-30 people. I figure about 40-50 hamburgers and 24 dogs. Probably get a box of frozen burgers for the last 10 or twelve as a reserve we can reuse later? Beer and drinks appear covered unless you want your own specific alcohol stuff. Our group can bring some, so I was thinking if three groups bring burgers/dogs and another group brings condiments, Tom/another covers rolls we are good. Maybe another salad and 2 desserts at most. Lets try to divide things well and bring stuff we are going to eat. We don’t need everyone bringing pastries, donuts, cookies, etc that usually get only half eaten and tossed out. Thoughts?

  11. Thinking on this a little more after cutting my grass, we probably need about 2 more side dishes due to size of crowd, and probably some veggie burgers in lieu of regular burgers. Say a 40/8 burger split?

  12. Witkowski/Pearson party will bring 2 side salads (pasta/potato/slaw type) and I have plenty of plates, utensils, paper towels, garbage bags

  13. Hi--sorry for the late response; my mom has been in the hospital the past week (complications from hip replacement surgery). We will be 8--thanks Larry for responding for us. We can bring whatever is needed, won't be able to prepare anything ahead this week but we can pick up anything needed from the supermarket. Looking forward to seeing ya'll!

I will coordinate with Andrea and Eric for their group of 8 to split up bringing 18 burgers (12 frozen as our last to use), 6 frozen veggie burgers and condiments (mustard, ketchup, etc) and a dessert.

    Looks like we are set.
